Open Plan first floor sitting area

Breathtaking views greet you on arrival in the spectacular first floor open-plan living room which includes a large luxurious sofa, stylish Danish wood-burning stove, comfy window seat and bird watcher's scope so guests can enjoy the views whatever the weather. The sitting area is dominated by the stunning panoramic view through the high triangular window, showcasing the sea, mountains and islands of Sutherland and Wester Ross.

Equipped for both entertainment and relaxation, the sitting area includes a Smart  TV,  an Amplifier/Streamer and speakers.  Due to the remote location, broadband cannot be guaranteed with speeds of only around 7mps download. Avoiding simultaneous device usage does however usually allow for uses such Zoom video conference calls and watching TV. The TV and Music Streamer both rely solely on broadband for reception.

A beautiful handmade staircase leads down from the first floor open plan living area to the ground floor where there are two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate shower room offering comfortable accommodation for up to four guests:

Bedroom 1 and bathroom

Double bedroom 1 is on the ground floor with a king-sized bed and dual control electric blanket.  The slightly bigger of the two rooms, it features a desk with a broadband ethernet socket.  A spacious bathroom is accessed from the communal hall and has a bath with a shower over. The bedroom seamlessly opens through a glass sliding door onto a wooden deck just three metres from the sea, creating a real wow factor.

Bedroom 2 and shower room

Double bedroom 2 is also on the ground floor and opens through a glass sliding door onto the same wooden deck as bedroom 1.  It also features a king-sized bed and dual control electric blanket. Guests in this bedroom can access the same bathroom off the communal hall or use the separate shower room.   Both bedrooms have equally stunning views. Perhaps wake up to a spontaneous wild swim straight from your bedroom terrace.

For those desiring single beds, a bunkroom at the rear of the ground floor can be made available upon special request. The shower room opens off this bunkroom.

Open plan first floor dining area and kitchen

The open plan living area spanning the entire length of the first floor  includes a dining zone, a superbly equipped kitchen area and a sizeable porch. The porch includes a  WC, ample space for coats and boots, a drying pulley  and a cupboard housing a washing machine and separate tumble dryer.

The dining area features a Homer Scot-Scandi table sitting up to eight with vintage Ercol dining chairs. The kitchen area is fully equipped for the discerning cook with a Rangemaster electric Range Cooker, two fridges, a dishwasher and a freezer. Top-tier kitchen equipment includes a Nespresso coffee capsule machine and milk frother,  a food mixer and a Ninja Air Frier.

Some Practical Things to know:

  • Logs, kindling and firelighters sit by the stove. Top-ups are available at Laide General Store.
  • Both bathroom towels and beach towels are provided.
  • A range of spices, olive oil etc are available in the kitchen. Please feel free to replenish these as needed.
  • Enjoy a cup of coffee from the Nespresso machine which comes with some complimentary capsules to get you started - don't forget to bring your favourite Nespresso 'Original' capsules for the duration of your stay!
  • A hair drier is provided.
  • We have two yoga mats available to help you unwind.
  • If you need to catch up on work, a desk in the main bedroom and a small table with fold-down leaves in the living area are ready for your use.  While the wifi speed is modest at around 7 mps it is usually sufficient for video calls and browsing.
  • 'Sea Kelp' hand wash from Scottish Fine Soaps is provided in the bath/shower rooms.
  • Sometimes the sound of the waves breaking on the shore can be quite noticeable at night. Most people find that enormously relaxing -  but some might not!!
  • In Winter, we have aluminium protectors across the bottom third of the bedrooms' glass doors in case stones are thrown up by a severe storm.  It has not happened yet!
